      It's in our DNA

Something our Founder Donna has always been passionate about is giving back. She knew that when she started Miik, it had to be about more than just sustainable, buttery soft clothes — for her it had to mean something more. She wanted to build a business that would help to uplift organizations and communities. And with that our ethos began: Look good. Do good. Feel good. We are so excited to be making this dream a reality, one step at a time. Our desire is that as we continue to grow, we are also able to continually contribute to our society in meaningful ways, that make a big impact.

      Introducing the Miik Foundation

The Miik Foundation was founded in 2022 by Miik Founder Donna and her husband Michael to continue to support important causes close to our hearts. Although Miik has always given back to the community in a multitude of ways, Donna and Michael started the Miik Foundation to allow us to help as many causes as possible. Soon, we'll open donations directly to the Miik Foundation to support the various causes we advocate.

With your help, the Miik Foundation continues to make a difference.

      ONGOING PARTNERSHIPS

Proceeds from every Miik order help us contribute to our ongoing partnerships with trusted organizations we are passionate about. Starting with an ongoing partnership with Plan Canada that began over a decade ago – before Miik even existed! – we continue to align ourselves with organizations that amplify our values.

We've sent over 2000 young women in developing countries to school (and that's only since 2020!) through Plan Canada's Gifts of Hope, and continue to grow this number with every purchase.

After cumulatively donating $20,000 to Indspire to support Indigenous education, the Miik Foundation now donates $10,000 per year, funding 3 separate $3000 awards for Indigenous women, non-binary and two-spirit individuals who are seeking financial aid towards their post-secondary education.

We donate Miik clothing to Dress for Success for equipping financially-vulnerable women with professional attire, to help them achieve economic independence.

We donate Miik clothing to Sistering, who provide support to homeless and at-risk women and trans people.

      CAMPAIGNS

We periodically contribute a percentage of our sales to organizations we trust are making a difference, and that support equity-deserving individuals and initiatives we commend. Here are some of the amazing Canadian-based organizations we've been able to support because of you. And this is only the beginning!

November 2023: Donated $7,000 to Sistering, who offer practical and emotional resources to women and gender-diverse people who experience homelessness or precarious housing, trauma and violence, social isolation, discrimination, substance use or need mental health support.

November 2022: Donated $5,000 to Rainbow Railroad, who provide travel and support to LGBTQI+ people facing imminent danger, arranging their arrival to a safer country where their basic rights and freedoms are upheld.

November 2022: Donated $5,000 to Daily Bread Food Bank, which supplies food to nearly 200 food programs across Toronto and supports community food access planning across the city's neighbourhoods.

March 2022: Donated $5,000 to Help Us Help, aiding Ukrainian civilians in war-torn areas by providing much-needed first-aid kits. Learn how you can #standforUkraine here

November 2021: Donated $10,000 to United Way British Columbia's Flood Response Fund to help affected B.C. communities in the aftermath of the 2021 floods.

September 2021: Helped 16 survivors transition to a life free from violence with Shelter Movers, who use donations to provide no-cost moving and storage services to women and children fleeing gender-based violence
